Back injuries at work are usually given little attention but it is the common cause for an employee’s absence from work. These are usually connected to the aches your neck can feel. The reasons are very common, so much so that I bet you never considered it to be connected with each other.

1. The position of the chair in relation to the table. Your chair could be too far away or too near the keyboard;
2. Most chair designers nowadays give more thought into making their designs unique rather than ergonomic. Your chair might be fashionable but it definitely isn’t comfortable for your back;
3. Poor posture;
4. Your monitor’s position is either too low or too high;
5. Cradling the telephone between your head and your shoulders causing you to bend your neck for a long period of time.

The causes of these work-related injuries are common and so are the ways to prevent it. Being conscious about your position is one of the ways to reduce pressure on your back. It will not only relieve your back from stress, it will also help your breathing. So reduce that number of sick leaves by taking steps to prevent back injuries at work.
